Packages.
A package sends files that are already on the server to people who do not have an account. Each person gets their own link. You can see who opened it and what they collected.
Send a package
On Packages, choose Send a package. Pick a storage, then the files and folders to send. A folder includes everything inside it, including empty folders. That folder, or the whole storage when you send everything, is read again when someone collects the package, so a file added later is included and a file removed later is not. Individual files stay as they were when you sent them. You can also start from a selection on the Files page.
Then set:
- Who receives it, by email address.
- A subject and a message.
- When the links stop working: 7 days, 30 days, a date of your own, or never if the server allows it.
- An optional passcode of at least 6 characters. The email says a passcode is needed and does not contain it. Tell the recipient the passcode yourself.
Each recipient gets their own link by email. If email is not set up yet, the package is still created and the links work: pass them on yourself. Set up delivery in Email delivery.
What the recipient does
Opening the link needs no account. They can download everything as one ZIP, download file by file, receive the whole package in Farwing Desktop, or copy a command:
farwing get https://files.example.com/r/TOKEN
To take only some of the files, they tick those files and download the selection, open it in Farwing Desktop, or copy a command for just those files. Several files fetched together count as one collection.
Who collected it
Active lists packages that are still open, and how many people collected them. History keeps expired and withdrawn ones. Open a package to see each recipient, when they first opened the link, and every download with its time, file and method.
Withdraw one recipient's link, or delete the package. Deleting stops the recipients' links. The record of the package stays, so the history of who received it remains. Expired and withdrawn packages move to History. Administrators can switch to Everyone's to see every package on the server.
